Mike Ellis is currently a development exec for Dr. Phil's production company, Stage 29 (distributed by CBS Media Ventures), and the company has most recently worked on the hit CBS show, So Help Me Todd. Sony pictures made his first movie, “THE WEDDING PLANNER,” starring Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey which became the number one film in the country two weeks in a row and became an iconic romantic comedy. He co-wrote and produced the IFC film, “AN INVISIBLE SIGN,” starring Jessica Alba, Chris Messina and J.K. Simmons. He was a consulting producer/writer on the Netflix hit show, INSATIABLE starring Debbie Ryan and Alyssa Milano.
He also recently sold a movie to the Hallmark Channel, SEEING FAITH. He wrote a movie, “SUPER SUNDAY” about the Super Bowl for Warner Brothers. He sold AMERICAN MARRIAGE with Ellen Pompeo to ABC and MARSHA GOES TO JAIL with Adam Shankman to Fox.
Mike has sold five pilots to ABC, FOX and the CW. He has sold 25 movie scripts and pitches to Disney, Working Title, Sky Dance Entertainment, Universal, MGM, DreamWorks, Warner Brothers, MGM, Revolution Studios, Fine Line Films, Savoy Pictures and Destination Pictures. He has written movies with Lindsay Doran, Anne Fletcher, Jason Moore, Ashton Kutcher, Vin Diesel, Salma Hayek, Meg Ryan, America Ferrera and Sandra Bullock. Other credits include consulting producer on the ABC show “JAKE IN PROGRESS,” adapting the YA novel the “A-LIST” for Alloy Entertainnment and Universal Pictures, and wrote on the Disney animated feature, SWEATING BULLETS. Mike received his BFA in Film from NYU’s Tisch School Of The Arts and an MFA in Screenwriting from AFI. He's been teaching for over 20 years and making fun of himself for 30 years.
